If you do try Portal and find that you want to keep playing magic, we recommend your next purchase be the Fifth Edition of Magic: The Gathering, which includes a good assortment of cards and a rulebook. To start with do not buy any of the other Magic sets (e.g., Tempest), which generally do not include rulebooks and are not very friendly to someone not explicitly familiar with the game.
