Searching for Treasure, A-Z

Question: "Where can I get an A-Z treasure chart? It's not in my Dungeon Master's Guide like the new Monstrous Manual says. I have and old Dungeon Master's Guide, so maybe that's why."

Answer: Yes, that is why. The chart you are looking for--the "A-Z treasure table"--appears on page 133 of the 2nd Edition Dungeon Master's Guide, but does not appear in the original Dungeon Master's Guide at all. It does, however, appear in a number of other books, some of which you might have access to. These include the original Monster Manual, on page 105, and the Fiend Folio, on page 99.

In the original books, this table appeared in the various monster books and nowhere else. In the 2nd Edition books, the philosophy seems to have changed, and the A-Z table appears in the DM's Guide, but not the monster books. Your combination of books from both editions does not seem to include it at all, unfortunately.

We recommend you either borrow an old Monster Manual from a friend or buy one from a used book store or that you upgrade your collection by purchasing some new books.
