"Captain Sisay has been rescued, and the Weatherlight embarks on a perilous flight to escape Volrath's stronghold. In pursuit of the battered craft flies the ravenous warship Predator, bent on destroying the ship and its valiant crew . . . "

Inspired by the actions of the Weatherlight and her crew, the four Exodus Preconstructed Decks are an Expert Level addition to Magic: The Gathering. Each deck contains 60 specially selected cards to work in conjunction with each other (as opposed to most decks, contents of which are partially or even entirely random) and to follow a specific strategy.

These are powerful, interesting decks, suitable for use straight out of the box or with some customization, and include exciting new creatures, spells, and artifacts. Intriguingly, none of the decks contains any cards for healing or otherwise recouping damage, and focus instead on avoiding damage through use of spells or monsters. They are also very land heavy (from 22- 26 per deck), and can be a good source of land and spell cards (see the individual descriptions below for a listing of what cards appear in each deck) for customized decks.

Each deck includes a strategy guide that gives tips for how to play the deck; guidelines for customizing the decks to make them more competitive (although we do not agree with all of the advice in these sections, as they tend to somewhat reduce the versatility of the decks); descriptions of new features of the Tempest, Stronghold, and Exodus expansions (such as buybacks for spells, licids, and the shadow creature characteristic); and lists of the cards in the various decks, along with their rarity (rare and uncommon cards appear in the same ratios in these decks as in others). These decks do not contain complete rules of play for Magic, and are not intended for beginning players (we recommend that newcomers to the game start with Portal Second Age, a very user-friendly introduction to the world of Magic: The Gathering).

Groundbreaker is a land deprivation deck that uses a combination of land destruction spells, creature removal spells, and mid-strength monsters, and is especially useful against low mana, horde-type decks.

Dominator is a high mana deck that develops slowly, using defensive tactics early in the game followed by fairly powerful monsters and tough spells to dominate the table and achieve victory later in play.

Widowmaker gives its player powerful card-drawing effects and options to discard less useful cards for those that are needed, and includes some fun monster cards.

White Heat is a fast attack deck that combines hordes of low-cost monsters with direct damage spells.
