Crusade, the fifth expansion set for the BattleTech collectible card game, is even more exciting than the irreproachable Commander's Edition, Wizards of the Coast's last expansion for the 31st century science fiction game. Inspired by FASA's popular Twilight of the Clans novels, Crusade introduces or resurrects several rules and brings into play a new military power, Clan Steel Viper (the insignia for which is displayed at the upper right corner of this page). .
Among the exciting features of the 108-card Crusade expansion set are Alliance cards, a new card type that allows players to choose their allies and team up against their enemies. Crusade also resurrects vehicle cards, which did not appear at all in the Commander's Edition expansion. Of course, foremost among the features of the Crusade expansion is the introduction of Clan Steel Viper, a powerful clan with equally powerful new 'Mechs.
War is a way of life in 31st century universe of BattleTech, where vast empires and tiny factions struggle for supremacy over mankind. The five great houses of the Inner Sphere (Davion, Steiner, Marik, Liao, and ComStar) fight to protect their worlds from the Clans (Jade Falcon, Wolf, Ghost Bear, Smoke Jaguar, and Steel Viper), warrior aggressors seeking to overthrow the houses. Both sides control the ultimate weapons of destruction, 30-foot-tall walking tanks called BattleMechs, each piloted by a skilled MechWarrior and packing enough firepower to level an entire city block.
If you are a fan of science fiction or collectible card games and have not yet tried Battletech, now is a good time to start. We recommend you pick up one of the excellent Commander's Edition preconstructed decks and then flesh it out with as many Crusade booster packs as you think you need (we think two to six would do the trick, but a few more couldn't hurt ...).
Crusade cards are available in booster packs of 15 randomly assorted cards for $2.99 per pack.
