Skirmisher Publishing LLC's presence at Gen Con Indy 2005 was an unqualified success, according to company president Michael Varhola. "We nearly quadrupled our revenues from last year and we were very happy with the traffic through the booth," he reported.

This year, members of the Skirmisher Game Development Group turned out in force to man a 10' x 10' corner booth crammed with an entire year's worth of new products.

Experts version 3.5, a Comprehensive D20 Sourcebook for Fantasy Role-Playing Games.
Experts v.3.5 -- the only available d20 dedicated to Dungeons & Dragons' Expert NPC class -- was in the spotlight, hot off the presses and just in time for the show.

Nuisances: A Comprehensive OGL (d20 System) Sourcebook for Fantasy Role-Playing Games.
Nuisances also made its GenCon debut and led the pack as the company's biggest seller. This strong showing was no doubt bolstered by the packaging of a free CD of errata and new content with each copy of Nuisances. Having each CD come in one of four novelty cases featuring "Monster Porn" titles featured in the book didn't hurt, either.

"After Nuisances, Experts v.3.5 and H.G. Wells' Little Wars led in sales," Varhola said.

Skirmisher shared its booth this year with two other companies, Cincinnati-based Sanguine Publishing, a designer of anthropomorphic animal roleplaying games, and The Game Loft, a nonprofit organization based in Belfast, Maine, focused on providing youth services centered around gaming as an outlet.

"The arrangement worked out just fine," Varhola said, indicating he looked forward to seeing one or both partners next year.

The familiar face of Con Kitty was also present to introduce Skirmisher products to attendees, wearing her ever-popular chainmail bikini top and black leather skirt ensemble, complete with a liberal dose of orange body paint and stripes. Attendees looking to take Con Kitty home with them will get their wish at GenCon Indy 2006, in a manner of speaking, when Skirmisher unveils a special Con Kitty collectible card, free to all booth visitors and complete with d20 stats for our favorite feline. Meow.

Folks visiting the booth next year will also have the chance to roll a giant d100 for a chance to win free Skirmisher products, with the person lucky enough to roll a natural "00" walking away with one of every Skirmisher product in the booth.

Looking back on this year's convention experience, Varhola cited the "How to Get Your Game Published" seminar, presented by himself and Robert "Mac" McLaughlin, as the high point of the show. A video based on this event is currently in production will be available soon.

Varhola said he is also looking forward to next year, when Skirmisher will bring several new products to Indianapolis, including Cthulhu Live Third Edition, which Varhola expects to be the star attraction. Other products Skirmisher is currently planning to bring out at Gen Con 2006 include Floor Games, H.G. Wells' book on gaming props, and Noble Wild, a supplement allowing animals as player characters.

Given the success of this year, expect great things from Skirmisher at GenCon Indy 2006!

Happy Gamer Dragon.
